DILG & ‘Ang Probinsyano ‘Teleserye Producers Set To Hold Meeting\
DILG and the producers of top rating teleserye “Ang Probinsyano” are set to hold a meeting this week amidst the controversy.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and “Ang Probinsyano” producers will meet this week for a discussion.
The announcement came after DILG warned of filing legal charges against the producers of the show if they continue to negative portrays the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Año said the teleserye producer contacted them to settle and resolve the issue through a dialogue.
“The producers of the show approached us to discuss ways to resolve the issues raised by the Philippine National Police. As we said previously, we are always open to dialogue and we look forward to meeting with them soon,” Año said quoted by Inquirer.
The DILG secretary explained that they acknowledge ABS-CBN’s disclaimer but using PNP’s name and other materials have also a limit.
The agency’s executive cited the Executive Order No. 297, which regulates the utilization of PNP insignias, uniforms, and equipment.
He also said that the agency was the first to cry foul is suppress but they did not wish to dictate the show’s storyline but suggested to use a fictional law enforcement agency.
