Lawmakers Express Disappointment Over Sandiganbayan’s Ruling About The Case of Imelda Marcos

The lawmakers have expressed their disappointment over Sandiganbayan’s decision towards the case of former first lady Imelda Marcos.

Anakpawis Rep Ariel Casilao expressed his dismay on Sandiganbayan’s decision about the charges filed against the 89-year-old widow of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

The ruling found Imelda Marcos guilty for funneling public funds to overseas bank accounts and ordered her to post bail worth P150,000.

Sandiganbayan allegedly delayed the issuance of warrant arrest for the former first lady and even allowed her to post bail, which disappointed the lawmakers.

Very double standard! Very shameful of the high magistrates of the Sandiganbayan bowing down to the high and mighty Marcoses for the whole world to see. Very disappointing! As if the delay of more than two decades in deciding the case was not enough injustice,” Casilao said.

Akbayan Rep. Tom Villarin cited that the Sandiganbayan was too much concern with the alleged health issues of the ex-first lady.

Marcos snubbed the November 9 hearing claiming that she was advised to avoid stressful situations.

Kabataan Partylist Rep Sarah Elago considers the P150,000 charged to Marcos as Piso Sale or 11-11 sale compared to billions of pesos she robbed from the Filipinos.
