Pinay OFW Died Due To Poisoning In Saudi Arabia
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that a 44-year-old Pinay OFW died due to poisoning in Saudi Arabia after allegedly maltreated by her employer.
Emerita Gannaban, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) died at the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Riyadh due to poisoning.
The Pinay maid was only deployed to Saudi Arabia only in June 2018 working as a domestic helper.
The Philippine officials in the Arab State are looking into the angle that Gannaban was abused by her employer.
“The Department assures the family of Gannaban that it would take a closer look into her death as well as allegations that she had been maltreated,” DFA said.
Gannaban’s family is already communicating with the Philippine Embassy Officials together with her employers and recruiters in Manila and Riyadh for the repatriation of Pinay maid’s remains.
The DFA also said that the embassy is waiting for the autopsy results conducted on the OFW’s body.
Most Filipino people are seeking job employment in Saudi Arabia working in construction firms and household services.
However, several Filipino migrant workers experience abuse and maltreatment from the employer in the Middle East.
