La Union Town Mayor Dead Shot Dead In Ambush
La Union town Mayor Alexander Buquing and its personnel have been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in an ambush on their way home.
On Monday evening (October 2, 2018), Mayor Alexander Buquing of Sudipen town in La Union was killed by unidentified suspects.
Buquing sustained multiple gunshots together with his driver Bonifacio Depdepe and his bodyguard Rolando Juan Be who also died on the ambush.
Ilocos Sur District Hospital staff members said that the town mayor was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Bangar Police Chief Insp. Cirilo Butigan narrated that Mayor Buquing and his wife, Vice Mayor Wendy Buquing were on their way home when the incident happened.
Luckily, Wendy survived and now stable but still admitted to the hospital for medical treatment and observation.
The police investigators said that the motive behind the ambush is still unclear but a special investigation task group will be created to investigate the crime.
The Sudipen town Mayor is the 17th elected official killed during the administration of President Duterte.
