An earthquake with a 5.9 Magnitude Jolts Parts of Indonesia
EARTHQUAKE – The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 5.9 magnitude quake recently jolted Indonesia.
Indonesia has recently been hit by a series of quakes. In August 2018, the North Lombok was jolted by 6.2 magnitude quake. Before October came, Sulawesi Island in the same country was hit by a quake with a magnitude of 7.5.
The said quake has left at least 800 people dead. Recently, another quake jolted Indonesia.
Based on a recent report in Inquirer, citing the statement of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 5.9 magnitude earthquake jolted the southern coast of Sumba Island. The said island is 1,600 kilometers to the south of Sulawesi.
According to the report, the quake hit with a depth of 10 kilometers on the area resided by around 750,000 people. There is no information yet about the damages it has caused.
