Tropical Depression Trami Intensifies Into Tropical Storm PAGASA Says

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Trami has intensified into a tropical storm before it enters PAR.

On Saturday (September 22, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest weather updates in the country.

PAGASA said that the tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical storm and given an international name “Trami”.

Tropical Depression Trami

Trami was last spotted at 2,060 kilometers east of Central Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness 90 kph moving 15 kph west-northwest.

The weather agency was expecting Trami to intensify into a severe tropical storm and to become a typhoon on Sunday (September 23, 2018).

Trami will be locally named “Paeng” if it enters PAR affecting the weather condition over Northern Luzon, or Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands.

Paeng is not expected to make a landfall but might enhance the southwest monsoon or locally known as “Habagat”.

However, the weather agency explained that the forecast could still change since the Trami is still far away from the country’s vicinity.
