Several local government units and the City of Manila declared class suspensions due to the aftermath of Typhoon Ompong and the 46th anniversary of Martial Law.

On Friday (September 21, 2018), the classes over some parts of the country have been suspended due to the disastrous effect of Typhoon Ompong.

The government announced the cancellation of classes as the residents of the typhoon-affected areas recover from Ompong’s aftermath.

Class Suspensions

Here are the areas covered by the class cancellations due to effects of Typhoon Ompong:

  • Itogon
  • Benguet
  • Bulacan

The classes were also suspended in the city of Manila due to the numerous and massive demonstrations to be held in remembering the 46th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada signed the Executive Order (EO) No. 35 suspending the classes of both public and private schools in Manila.

The local government of Naga City, Cebu has also declared class suspensions due to the landslide incident in the area on Thursday (September 20, 2018).
