Giant Malls Open Its Doors For Those Who Need Shelter

The giant malls in the country open its doors for those people who need shelter during extreme weather and flooding situations due to Typhoon Ompong.

Typhoon Ompong is currently traveling across the country’s territory carrying ferocious winds and heavy rains with maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 255 kph.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised tropical cyclone warning signals in some parts of the country due to Ompong (Mangkhut).

The weather bureau also expects Typhoon Ompong to intensify as a super typhoon before making a landfall, which may cause heavy downpour and violent wind.

Recently, Ayala Malls announced that they will open their doors for those who need shelter in case of extreme weather condition and flood.

The mall wrote in their post that people could use their waiting areas and restrooms to wait out the storm. The management also waived the overnight parking fees.

SM Malls also opened its doors to families who were unable to go home because of bad weather and flooding.
