Latest Updates On Typhoon Mangkhut (Sept 12) Released By PAGASA
The state weather bureau PAGASA released the latest updates regarding Typhoon Mangkhut, which would bring ferocious winds and heavy rains in the country.
On Wednesday (September 12, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest news about Typhoon Mangkhut.
PAGASA said that Typhoon Mangkhut continues to intensify as it moves closer to the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Mangkhut has maximum sustained winds of 200 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 245 kph.
The typhoon is expected is expected to enter PAR this afternoon and will be named “Ompong” moving towards Northern Luzon and may traverse the Cagayan-Batanes.
The weather disturbance was also expected to develop into a super typhoon when it reaches maximum center winds of more than 220 kph.

The weather agency also warned the residents that the typhoon might cause widespread damage in the affected areas.
Typhoon Ompong is a little bit weaker than Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) carrying maximum sustained winds of 235 kph.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon would still bring rains over Western Visayas and Mindanao.
