Low-Pressure Area Within PAR Turns Into Tropical Depression Neneng, PAGASA Says

The state weather bureau PAGASA announced that the low-pressure area spotted at north of Basco, Batanes has turned into Tropical Depression Neneng.

On Monday (September 10, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest weather update in the country.

PAGASA reported that the weather disturbance spotted inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has already intensified into a tropical depression.

Tropical Depression Neneng

The tropical depression has been named “Neneng” and last spotted at 120 kilometers of North of Basco, Batanes, which is under signal no. 1.

Neneng has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 60 kph moving 10 kph south-southwest.

The weather disturbance would bring occasional rains with gusty winds over Batanes and moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the Babuyan Group of islands.

Ilocos Norte and Apayao would experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The weather agency has also advised the residents living in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flashfloods and landslides.

Bagyong Neneng was expected to leave PAR on Tuesday (September 11, 2018).

Meanwhile, Typhoon Mangkhut spotted at 2,440 km east of Southern Luzon. Has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
