GMA Network ‘s “The Stepdaughters” Called Out Over “Insulting Statement” To Physical Therapists

“The Stepdaughters” of GMA network was called out by PPTAI.

A certain show from the GMA Network has been called out by the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc. over “insulting line” towards the profession.

The shows and series we see in televisions are somehow reflected and inspired in what is happening in real life. Some scenes may have had exaggeration but its aim is to entertain the people.

However, just recently, the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc. (PPTAI) have called out GMA’s show “The Stepdaughters“.

It is because of the scene that is shown below:

In an official statement that they have released and posted on Facebook, the line thrown by the villain character has offended the people in the said profession.

“…let me just remind you, you’re just a Physical Therapist. You’re not a doctor. You’re not a nurse. Ngayon kung wala kang magawa, masahihin mo na lang ako. Tutal, ‘yan naman ang trabaho mo, ‘di ba?” this line was specifically written in the statement.

Accordingly, the way it was delivered was insulting not to the one who play the role in the scene but to the profession in general.

It has “demonstrated a clear lack of awareness and absolute disregard for the honor and sensitivities of Filipino physical therapists here and abroad”.

Meanwhile, here are some of the reactions of the netizens regarding the matter:

Erick Rodriguez Masanque: Tingin ko sadya ito ng scriptwriters. Kontrabida ang nagsasalita eh, malamang mamaliitin nya ang profession nung kausap nya.

Ey La A Lcontin: Wow wala bang pwedeng ikaso sa GMA. Outright Discrimination. Sino ba hinayupak na writer yan

Kevin Piedad: Ambilis naman ma offend ng mga tao dito. Soap opera yan jusko sineseryoso nyo pa.

What can you say about this?
