KaladKaren criticized resto bar in Makati for discriminating members of LGBTQ
TV personality Jervi Li, popularly known as KaladKaren, scrutinized a resto bar in Poblacion, Makati for the discrimination she and her friends experienced.
They were not allowed to enter the said bar because of her gender identity. She confronted a bouncer who hindered them from entering the said establishment.
KaladKaren and her friends were about to go home when they decided to go to the said bar. However, they were shocked when the bouncer said that they can’t enter.
She was surprised with the policy because the night before that, they were there in the said resto bar.
Based on the report in ABS-CBN news, the host said that what she and her friends experienced was a form of discrimination to the members of LGBTQ.
She said that what happened to them angered and dismayed her at the same time. KaladKaren added that it would be fine if they were hindered to enter the bar because they were not following the dress code rather than because of their gender identity.
The TV personality saw the need to post the video of the incident on social media. It is because she wanted to emphasize that until now members of LGBTQ community are still experiencing discrimination.
She will not just sit down and be quiet of what happened to them. Instead, she wants everyone to be aware of this kind of situation.
Gerry Etcher, the General Manager of the resto bar, said that their policy not to let LGBTQ enter is for a certain group only.
He explained that there was a group of transgenders who stole jackets and so their guards were instructed not to let that group enter the bar.
Etcher also said that they have no problem with the members of LGBTQ community, based on report.
