Habagat Enhanced By Two Typhoons Spotted Outside Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR)
TWO TYPHOONS – ‘Habagat’ or southwest monsoon is strengthened by two typhoons that are located outside Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Following up the recent report, On Saturday (August 18), PAGASA issued a yellow rainfall warning in the following:
- Bagac and Mariveles in Bataan;
- Ternate, Maragondon, Naic, and Tanza in Cavite; and
- Nasugbu, Lian, Calatagan, Balayan, and Tuy in Batangas.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains is expected over the following areas:
- San Antonio and Subic in Zambales;
- Metro Manila;
- Zambales;
- Bataan;
- Cavite; and
- Batangas
Later , PAGASA also said that there are two typhoons spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
According to a recent report in UNTV, the first typhoon is named “Soulik” and it’s located at about 1,670 kilometers (km) east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.
The second typhoon doesn’t have a local name yet but is under the international name “Cimaron”. The typhoon is located at 2,965 kilometers (km) east of Luzon. Cimaron has a low chance of making rainfalls in the country but it still enhances the ‘habagat’.
As per the report, the following areas will begin to face monsoon rains:
- Ilocos Region;
- Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR);
- Batanes;
- Babuyan Group of Islands;
- Zambales; and
- Bataan.
Here are another set of areas that will face cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms:
- Metro Manila;
- the rest of Central Luzon;
- Calabarzon;
- Mindoro provinces; and
- Northern Palawan
Lastly, PAGASA said that the habagat will be intensified on Wednesday.
