Wanda Teo Mistakenly Calls Surigao River As Enchanted Kingdom During Hearing

Ex-DOT Secretary Wanda Teo Refers Surigao River As Enchanted Kingdom During Senate Hearing

Ex-Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo has mistakenly called Surigao ‘Enhanter River’ as ‘Enchanted Kingdom’ not only once but twice during Senate hearing.

On Tuesday (August 14, 2018), Wanda Teo and Ben Tulfo attended a hearing at the Senate regarding the controversial P60 million tourism advertisement deals.

The former DOT secretary is facing legislative charges for paying P60 million tourism advertisement fee on her brother’s television show entitled “BITAG”.

During the Senate hearing, Teo called the Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as “Enchanted Kingdom” at least twice.

Senator Richard Gordon asked Teo why the advertisement failed to announce the name and location of the tourist spots in the country although the sceneries were shown.

Gordon also said that the “Anak” TV commercial should focus on showing more tourist destinations and the directions how to reach the place.

Teo responded that the commercial shows the name of Surigao River: “Mayroon pong nakalagay, Enchanted Kingdom, Hinatuan.”

She also explained that they wanted to focus on less-popular areas like Surigao ‘Enchanted River’ in Hinatuan because tourist spots in Palawan, Cebu and Bohol are already known.

Once again, Gordon reacts saying “I didn’t see Hinatuan there”.

Wanda Teo replied “Mayroon po, Enchanted Kingdom — Enchanted River po, Hinatuan,” quoted by ABS-CBN.
