Leaders Of Opposition Links Gloria Arroyo’s Speakership To Become PH Prime Minister
The leaders of opposition were linking Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s speakership of becoming the Prime Minister of the Philippines.
Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has been elected and stepped to power as the new House Speaker under the Duterte administration.
The majority of the lower chamber has elected Arroyo as the new House Speaker after Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez stepped down from the position.
The former president rises to power again for the second time in the middle of the fast-tracking of the change of charter.
The leaders of the opposition are now threatened that the newly-elected House Speaker would become the country’s prime minister under a parliamentary-federal constitution.
The opposition linked GMA’s rise to power of stepping as prime minister while the government was pushing for cha-cha (Charter-Change).
“That’s why I’m saying Con-@ss [sic] is a very dangerous proposition right now because if they move and they are able to secure it is a voting jointly proposal, then they can always push that it will be a parliamentary system and then GMA is prime minister,” Liberal Party External Affairs VP, Erin Tañada said..
“Definitely, she is not a positive influence to our society because she used to be the face of corruption and I don’t think she was able to rehabilitate herself or her image along those lines,” Antonio Trillanes said.
“She’s a threat in the sense that she’s very capable of pushing successfully the agenda of the administration with Congress, which is charter change at the moment. She has the smarts, she has the experience, and this is something that she’s wanted to have for a long time,” said by former representative Barry Gutierrez.
