Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes Denies Accusations Of Instructing Players To Hurt Other Team

Gilas Pilipinas Coach Chot Reyes has denied the accusations against him of allegedly instructing his players to hurt other team.

Previously, FIBA 2018 has been the most controversial topics worldwide due to the awful brawl between Gilas Pilipinas and the Australian team.

On Thursday (July 19, 2018), FIBA suspends 10 players and two coaches of Gilas Pilipinas for their involvement on the brawl.

Recently, Gilas Coach Chot Reyes has released an official statement regarding the decision of FIBA towards the Philippine National Basketball Team.

Reyes said in his statement that he stands and respecting the decision of FIBA and denied the allegations of instructing the players to hurt other team.

He also issued an apology and expressed his regret over the incident.

Here’s the full statement:

“The SBP has released its statement on the FIBA decision, and I stand with our national federation in respecting FIBA’s findings. I have never given instructions to hurt nor incite unsportsmanlike behavior, and in my 20 years as Head Coach in the PBA and 7 years at the helm of Gilas, I have never been involved in any such incident.

I deeply regret what happened last July 2, and again apologize together with our players and staff. As we work to put all this behind us, we reiterate our commitment to serve our flag. Laban. Pilipinas. Puso!”
