LOOK: Actor-Councilor Roderick Paulate To Stand Trial On Graft And Falsification

Roderick Paulate, Actor Turned Councilor, Is On Trial For Graft And Falsification

RODERICK PAULATE – QC Councilor Roderick Paulate will be tried for graft and falsification relating to the alleged hiring of “ghost” employees.

Previously, based on a report, he was charged graft and falsification on Wednesday in the sum of P1.1 million. He will face the charges along with his liaison officer Vicente Esquilon Bajamunde with 246,000PHP and 222,000PHP respectively.

Furthermore, he said that he “just have to face it in the proper venue” but his answers will remain the same “using old documents and old evidence”.

He even posted this on Instagram:

Today, he will face trial with the same charges that was dismissed in 2010. According to a report on Inquirer, the Sandiganbayan’s Seventh Division denied Paulate’s motion for the dismissal of the charges against him on July 9. Even more, they denied his claim that his right to the speedy disposition of his case was violated.

It took the Ombudsman almost 6 years to investigate, and it was “justified” because of how “complex” the issues are.

As per the report, the resolution stated that “the protection under the right to a speedy disposition of cases should not operate to deprive the government of its inherent prerogative in prosecuting” cases.

The court sternly scolded Erika Krizia Galapate, Paulate’s lawyer, for being “discourteous and intemperate.” However, they decided that they will not cite her in direct contempt.
