PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update On Tropical Depression Ester (June 15)

The state weather bureau PAGASA has released the latest weather update regarding Tropical Depression Ester affecting country’s weather system.

On Friday (June 15, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Tropical Depression Ester slightly slowed down.

PAGASA raise the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal over Batanes since Ester is now in the vicinity of Taiwan.

The weather disturbance was last spotted at 325 kilometers north-northwest of Basco, Batanes packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Ester is now moving 13 kph at a northeast direction and expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning (June 16, 2018).

The tropical depression enhances the southwest monsoon or ‘Habagat’ that would bring monsoon rains over Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, and Bataan.

Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and the rest of Cagayan Valley and of Central Luzon would have light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.

The weather agency has also warned the resident in the affected areas to be always prepared for possible flashfloods and landslides.

PAGASA also said that sea travels remain risky over the seaboard Central Luzon and Northern Luzon.
