Pacman’s “Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League” Stepped To Next Level

Manny Pacquiao’s “Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League” or MPBL has stepped to the next level and rose to fame nationwide.

Basketball is one of the most popular sports not only in the Philippines but also in different countries all around the world.

Filipino people are also known for being a fan of basketball although it was not the national sports of the Philippines.

The ‘Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League or MPBL’, which was formed by the Pinoy boxing icon and now Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is now making a history in sports.

On Tuesday (June 12, 2018), MPBL has already started with 26 teams who will compete to win the MPBL National Champion title and the P10 million ‘Datu Cup Trophy’.

Pacman revealed that the basketball league has started in a dream that more Filipino people could play basketball at the professional level.

“Nagsimula lahat sa isang pangarap, na mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mas maraming Pilipino na makapaglaro ng basketball sa professional level…” Pacman said during the opening of the 2018 MPBL Datu Cup.

The lawmaker explained that MPBL originally abbreviated as ‘Manny Pacquiao Basketball League’, which has started with 10 seasons and 18 teams for P1 million prize.

Pacquiao brought the league into the national level, which could be watched on ABS-CBN S+A channel 23.

“Maganda naman yung resulta, tapos pinag-aralan ko ng mabuti kung ano yung mga dapat gawin, yung titignan natin, and then nung na-complete ko yung ten seasons, in-apply ko sa national. [Pwede na ‘to] sa national, i-apply ko, ila-live ko sa TV,” the boxer added.
