Fashion icon Kate Spade found dead inside her apartment.
KATE SPADE – The American designer and a fashion icon, Kate Spade, was found dead inside her apartment in Manhattan, Tuesday, police said.
Kate Spade is well-known for being a designer and a fashion icon creating an accessories empire. She has this gift of creating accessories based on what most women want and need.
According to a report from New York Times, the authorities have found her lifeless body inside her Manhattan apartment and reported that the cause of death was suicide by hanging.
The New York police chief of detectives, Dermot F. Shea said that the unfortunate incident “appears at this point in time to be a tragic case of apparent suicide.”
He said, “It is early in the investigation.”
The Spade family was in deep grief and devastation for the designer’s unexpected passing.
“We are all devastated by today’s tragedy. We loved Kate dearly and will miss her terribly. We would ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time,” Spade family stated as per NY Times report.
She left a note and was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:26 a.m.
Reta Saffo, designer’s sister, told The Star on Tuesday Spade had been suffering debilitating mental illness for the last three or four years and was self-medicating herself with alcohol.
“I think there was a plan even as far back as then,” Saffo said following revelation how her sister has been fixated upon hearing the news of Robin Williams whose cause of death was a suicide due to asphyxia last August 2014.
