Is the PSA Certified Birth Certificate really need for the school enrollment? DepEd Makes Clarification
DEPED – The Philippines’ Department of Education or DepEd made a clarification over the birth certificate required for the enrollment of a student to a school.
The opening of another school year is fast approaching. The start of the cl(–foul word(s) removed–) for the school year 2018-2019 will be on June 4, 2018. Based on a report, the DepEd has already released the official school calendar for the upcoming school year.
Students are expected to be at school for a total of 200 days. The closing of the school year is on April 5, 2019. The Christmas break of the student will be on December 22, 2018 until January 1, 2019.
Currently, teachers, students, and even parents are busy preparing for the opening of the school year. Some educational institutions are having their ‘Oplan Balik Eskwela’.
Meanwhile, it seems that there are lots of parents who are into taking a birth certificate certified by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for the enrollment of their kids at school. The DepEd has recently made a clarification regarding the requirement.
Based on a recent social media post on the Facebook page of 102.9 Brigada News Fm Daet Camarines Norte, the DepEd has made a clarification that the students are not obliged to submit a PSA-certified birth certificate during the enrollment.
Speaking to Brigada News FM Daet, Camarines Norte Dep Ed Division Public Information Officer Antonio Ahmad stressed the said clarification amid the parents’ pursuit to take a PSA-certified birth certificate of their children.
Based on the post, the parents have to go to Naga or Legaspi City to be able to have it and the fee has increased following the implementation of the TRAIN Law.
According to Ahmad, a birth certificate from the Local Civil Registrar is already enough and there is no need for the parents to take PSA-certified birth certificates of their children for the enrollment.
Based on the social media post, the DepEd PIO also made it clear that there is really no enrollment this year as the students are automatically enrolled that is why teachers are encouraged to post the list of the names of students during the ‘Brigada Eskwela’ period.
