The Filipino basketball player Kiefer Ravena was banned to play in FIBA for 18 months after tested positive for 3 prohibited substances.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) confirmed that Kiefer Isaac Crisologo Ravena has been suspended by FIBA after he had failed a drug test, which was conducted last February 25, 2018.
On Monday (May 28, 2018), SBP announced in a press conference that FIBA contacted them revealing that the Pinoy athlete has tested positive for banned substances.
Ravena has been banned to play in FIBA for 18 months, but SBP clarified that the substances are not illegal drugs.
However, the Pinoy basketball player said that he will take responsibility for not making sure what he was consuming.
“I am in front of you guys to take full responsibility for my actions, despite how painful and dreadful it is,” Ravena said quoted by ABS-CBN.
Here are the substances found on Ravena’s drug result; Higenamine, 1,3-Dimethylbutylamine, and 4-Methylhexan-2-amine.
The basketball player from NLEX Road Warriors of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will resume playing by August 24, 2019.
