Beautiful Cherry Blossoms Now Available In The Philippines

The most popular beautiful cherry blossoms in Japan is now also available in the Philippines. Find out the location of these pink sakura flowers.

The spring cherry blossoms festival in Japan attracts millions of tourist every year because of its stunning beauty and attractive scenery.

Cherry blossoms usually bloom on the onset of spring each year and it is also one of the national flowers of Japan.

The popular pink sakura flower is now also available in the Philippines called “Balayong Tree”, which is native to Palawan province.

Several Balayong trees can be found beside the De La Salle University Medical Center in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

The Palawan cherry or known as “Balayong”, is a medium-sized tree that symbolizes femininity and love in Puerto Princesa.

If Japan has cherry blossom festival, Palawan has the ‘Balayong Festival’ every year during the full bloom of Balayong Trees, which started in 2005.

Nowadays, Palawan cherry was usually used as decoration but the tree’s timber has been used in building sturdy furniture during the Spanish Era.

In 2017, about P250-million was spent for the Balayong nature park project in Puerto Princesa aiming to boost the tourism of the province.

The first sakura park project in the Philippines was opened last 2016 in Atok, Benguet wherein over 30 cherry blossom seeds were planted and expected to bear fruit by 2019.
