PH Government Reveals List Of Deliverables For Boracay ‘Soft Opening’
The Philippine government has revealed the list of deliverables for the soft opening of the Boracay Island, the country’s top tourists spot.
Boracay Island has been the headlines of the several local news outlets and social media pages because of its impending closure on April 26, 2018.
The country’s top tourist destination will be temporarily closed for 6-months to allow the government to restore and rehabilitate the island.
Recently, the government revealed the list of deliverable within the six-month closure of Boracay giving a hint of what tourist should expect
Interior Assistant Secretary Epimaco Densing explained that the island might open earlier than the expected date.
- Clean Water Discharge
30 consecutive days of clean water discharge meeting the standards of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) into the sea is necessary.
- Zero Solid Waste
Densing said that there should be no solid waste brought to mainland Malay’s sanitary landfill as the government has ordered the business establishments to practice proper waste segregation.
- Fix Bulabog’s Drainage System
The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority was tasked to rehabilitate Bulabog’s drainage system the seawater quality.
- Clear Shores of Easement Violators
The government will dismantle the establishments violating the 30-meter easement rule in the white beach in the Bulabog Beach.
- Recover Wetlands
The government also aims to recover at least 3 of the 5 missing wetlands, which went missing after few structures were built on the area.
- Widen Roads
The widening of the island’s 4.8-kilometer main road by 70 percent is one of the government goals during the closure.
