Mayor Jonathan Tan Swam For Hours To Save Girlfriend Bianca Manalo, Others
BIANCA MANALO – Pandan, Antique Mayor Jonathan Tan broke his silence on the speedboat capsizing incident that happened to him and his group.
An unexpected incident happened to Mayor Jonathan Tan and actress-beauty queen Bianca Manalo on Holy Thursday. While they were on their way to an island in Culasi, the speedboat that they were riding in capsized.
Based on a report, among those who were with the couple when the incident happened were actress Ehra Madrigal and her husband Tom Yeung. The Pandan town Mayor was supposed to tour his friends to Mararison Island.
According to Sr. Inspector Glen Jaromay, the Officer-in-Charge of Sebaste Police, strong waves hit the speedboat that the group was riding.
The incident led to the death of 50-year-old Bennie Dable, the cousin and bodyguard of Bianca Manalo’s politician boyfriend. He was reportedly the one who drove the speedboat when they were on their way to an island in Culasi.
Based on a recent report in Pep, speaking to ABS-CBN News, Mayor Jonathan Tan expressed that everything happened so fast. Within 10-15 seconds, the speedboat that they were riding in capsized according to the politician and they started to cram.
“I had to do something. Kung hindi ko gagawin ‘yun, malulunod kaming lahat,” he said.
Bianca Manalo’s boyfriend reportedly narrated that he decided to swim to the shoreline after he tried to seek for a rescue. Together with Torrebeo Barrientos, they swam for hours.
Mayor Tan expressed that he prayed asking God to save him so he could save the other passengers of the speedboat that capsized. Based on his estimate, he swam four kilometers in two hours before the got some help.
According to the report, fishermen in Brgy. Aras-asan saw them and they hurriedly went back to where Bianca Manalo and other passengers of the speedboat were. Mayor Jonathan Tan revealed that the incident made him cry.
“Napaiyak talaga ako. While we were on our way pabalik sa kanila, sabi ko, ‘Makikita ko pa ba sila? Are they still there?” he said.
Based on the report, Bianca Manalo’s boyfriend compared the incident to a movie. He stressed that he never expected that it will happen to them.
