DOJ Dismisses Charges vs Bohol Official Of His Mayor Wife’s Death
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has dismissed the charges filed against a Bohol official who was accused of killing his mayor wife.
Bohol board member Nino Rey Boniel is now acquitted from criminal charges filed against him for being allegedly responsible for the death of her wife Mayor Gisela Boniel.
DOJ has granted the petition for review filed by the Bohol official and reversed the resolution released by the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office, which recommends the filing of complaints against Boniel and two other suspects.
Boniel is the primary suspect of murdering his wife Gisela Boniel who is the mayor of Bien Unido two whose body was thrown into the sea last June 2017.
The murder charges filed against Willy Hoylar and Restituto Magoncia Jr. has been also dismissed after DOJ Undersecretary Reynante Orceo ordered the prosecutor office.
The criminal charges filed against the suspects were based on the testimony given by the employee of the Bien Unido municipal hall who was accusing Boniel as the primary suspect.
Orceo said that Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office does not have the authority and jurisdiction over the case.
