Suspected Abu Sayyaf Members Free School Principal ‘Marjorie Abdul’
MARJORIE ABDUL – A school principal in Sulu identified as Marjorie Abdul was freed by alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf group.
Lots of people were alarmed after another personnel of the Department of Education in Sulu has been forcibly taken by men from her office yesterday. Based on a report, the said DepEd personnel is Marjorie Abdul, an elementary school principal.
According to Joint Task Force Sulu commander Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, the school principal was in her office in Liang Elementary School in Barangay Liang in Patikul when the men came in and took her by force.
Marjorie Abdul is reportedly 58 years old and is a resident of Godinez in Patikul.
A military official who refused to be identified claimed that a certain Suraka and Edimar Hayudini are leading the group that was allegedly responsible for the incident in a school in Sulu.
Based on a recent report in Inquirer, more than twelve hours after the disappearance of Marjorie Abdul, she has been freed by the suspected Abu Sayyaf members.
According to Sulu Division focal person of the Department of Education’s Disaster Risk and Reduction Management (DepEd-DRRM)Â Esquierdo Jumadain, it was around 11:00 o’clock in the evening when Abdul was freed under the West District of Patikul town.
According to Jumadain, the elementary school principal was freed in an area of Patikul known as ‘Dan Puti’ after her relatives paid an unspecified amount to the people who took her.
Marjorie Abdul is not the first DepEd personnel who was taken by still unidentified men by force. On March 8, 46-year-old Sitti Dormis Hamsirano was also taken by force based on the report citing Jumadain’s statement.
According to him, the persons responsible over the disappearance of Hamsirano, a teacher of Matatal Elementary School in Maimbung, demand P2 million ransom so the teacher would be released. Hamsirano has not yet been freed.
