President Duterte Issues Statement On Possible Release Of Peter Lim & Kerwin Espinosa

President Rodrigo Duterte has issued a statement regarding the possible release of Peter Lim and Kerwin Espinosa.

On Tuesday (March 13, 2018), Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that President Duterte was disappointed on the decision of the Department of Justice (DOJ) to dismiss the cases filed against the drug personalities Lim and Espinosa.

Duterte lambasted Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre III over the decision of state prosecutors to clear the self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa and businessman Peter Lim from drug charges.

Possible Release

“[Kapag] nakawala yan si Lim at Espinosa, siya ang ipapalit ko. I can review that dismissal order. Nag-amin na nga sa Congress! Why not admit it as evidence against him? I will invoke my power of supervision and control and will review dismissal,” Duterte said quoted by Roque.

Possible Release

Roque said that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will appeal the decision of DOJ to free the drug personalities.

Peter Lim was tagged by President Duterte as a Visayan member of the drug triad in the Philippines while Kerwin Espinosa confessed of receiving drug money.
