Maersk Line Cargo Vessel Catches Fire, 2 Filipino Crews Missing
The Maersk Line cargo vessel has been caught on fire, wherein four crew members went missing including two Filipino nationals.
On Tuesday (March 06, 2018), the world’s biggest container shipping company Maersk Line has been caught by fire in the Arabian Sea.
The shipping line has continued to search for their four missing crew members after their newly built container caught fire.
In the other hand, about 23 crew members safely evacuated from the vessel after the fire broke out around the ship.
Meanwhile, Søren Toft, Chief Operating Officer of A.P. Moller said that their hope of finding the missing seafarers alive is fading.
“While search operation continues the hope of finding our missing colleagues is fading. We are in contact with their families and they know that tragically, the time passed decreases the likelihood of finding their loved ones alive. Our thoughts and prayers go to them,” Toft said quoted by The Maritime.
The four missing seafarers are male African, Indian, and two Filipinos.
