DepEd adjusts 2016-2017 ALS A&E Test passing score.
The Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones made an adjustment to the 2016 ALS A&E Test passing score which was conducted last November 2017.
Anchored on the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program is the interest of the out-of-school youth and adult (OSYA) learners who are into chasing greater opportunities.
Thus, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones changed the cut-off score for the 2016 Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Test which was conducted last November 2017.
From 75%, it has been now adjusted to generally accepted passing score of 60%.
This has been decided the Education chief in collaborative effort concerned officers and personnel of the Department after their evaluation of the factor contributing to the gloomy test results.
The adjustment has then resulted in the jumping of passing rate of examinees to 46.8% from 16.49% of the 15,845 elementary level and to 62.08% from 15.58% of the 168,167 junior high school level/.
According to a report, the Division Testing Committee (DTC) of School Division Offices has received instructions to accommodate takers who did not reach the adjusted cut-off score from the November 2017 A&E test as walk-in examinees on March 4 (Luzon) and 11 (Visayas and Mindanao).
This is even without the presentation of required documents (e.g. Certificate of Rating or COR).
Furthermore, walk-in examinees who are the A&E Test last November 2017 but did not meet the adjusted passing score and learners who earlier registered for the March 2018 test takers are qualified to take the exam.
Their registration will be facilitated by the DTCs at the testing center from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. before the pre-test activities.
To ensure that every qualified examinee is to take the examination, photocopying of the answer sheets is allowed but only for the March A&E Test administration.
