Norovirus Is Now Rapidly Spreading At PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018
The Norovirus is now rapidly spreading at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018 affecting the number of people, which more than doubled in just two days.
Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) reported that the Norovirus is now spread like crazy in PyeongChang infecting about 86 people in just two days.
The highly contagious virus or also called as ‘winter vomiting flu’ could cause vomiting and diarrhea in its victims. It can spread through contact with infected people or contaminated food, water, and objects.
As of now, there are still no athletes has been affected by the virus. About 1, 200 security staff have been quarantined by the Olympic organizers during the first broke out.
Norovirus alleged spread beyond the security staff, affecting the members of PyeongChang Olympics Organizing Committee, venue personnel, and cafeteria workers.
“In order to stop the further outbreak of the virus, we’re quarantining patients beginning from the diagnosis to the treatment. We’re going to minimize this outbreak,” KCDC Director Kim Hyun-jun said quoted by TIME.
Kim explained that the virus is at its peak during the months of January and February.
He also said that they are currently doing their best to prevent the athletes from being infected by the highly contagious virus so they can enjoy the games as well as the audience too.
