Erik Matti Reacts To “Image” Of Promising Young Stars

Erik Matti has a comment to the promising young stars of today.

ERIK MATTI – The Filipino director has a statement to the young actresses from the past five years who slowly look like Tita’s on their mid-20s.

Erik Matti rose to prominence when his 1996 film Magic Temple became a box office success, winning numerous awards including “Best Screenplay” (shared with Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes) at the 1996 Metro Manila Film Festival.

He also became one of the Philippines’ leading directors after the critical success of his later films On the Job and Honor Thy Father, which earned him nominations for Best Director in the Gawad Urian Awards and Film Academy of the Philippines Awards, winning the latter.

He also directed other films such as Buy Bust, Seklusyon, Rounin, Pa-Siyam, Gagamboy, Prosti, Sa Huling Paghihintay, Dos Ekis, and a lot more.

And lately, on his Twitter account, he posted something with regards to the promising young stars in the past five years.

He wrote, “It’s a tragedy to see young promising stars in the past 5 years slowly look like titas even in just their mid 20’s.

The netizens have then commented and from a particular site, here are some of their reactions:

Because of mature roles and make up that is why. Stress adds up as well.

Sadly, his observation is true.

does he mean tita image when they’re acting on screen or during their day to day off screen lives?

Baka general statement lang. Pero ang naiisip ko si N na may movie with C lol.

Madami sila so mahirap mahulaan!

Matti is objectifying women as something that should always be fresh and young while it’s perfectly ok for men like him to be old, fat and sleazy.

What can you say about this?
