7.1 Magnitude Quake Expected To Hit Metro Manila

A 7.1 magnitude quake is expected to hit Metro Manila and nearby provinces covered by its 100-kilometer fault line, according to a social media page.

Recently, the Facebook page “President Rodrigo Duterte” has posted a warning of a possible major earthquake that could strike Metro Manila.

The major earthquake has a magnitude of 7.1, which could possibly kill over 30, 000 people and injured more than 100, 000 people, according to a study.

7.1 Magnitude Quake

The social media page explained that the strong tremor has a 100-kilometer fault line affecting the areas of Bulacan, Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Muntinlupa, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna.

The page also said that MMDA has divided the Metro Manila into four clusters to make the evacuation and rescue operation easier and faster.

The MMDA also allegedly assigned operation centers and temporary evacuation centers wherein the affected residents could gather.

The Facebook page said that the main waterways of Metro Manila including Pasig River would serve as an alternative route of the rescue and relief operation just in case roads and bridges are not accessible anymore.

The residents were also urged by the page to check the nearest evacuation center as early as possible and discuss with their family the possible meet-up place after the powerful earthquake.

However, there are still no confirmations or any announcement released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
