About 6 Soldiers Injured After Encounter With Maute Terror Group in Lanao del Sur

At least 6 soldiers got wounded after an encounter with the members of ISIS-inspired Maute Terror Group in Lanao del Sur.

Army spokesman Major Ronald Suscano said that the military troops of Joint Task Force Ranao had an encounter with over 10 members of the Maute Group, which injured at least 6 soldiers.

The clash happened last Saturday morning (January 20, 2018) when the military troops responded to the report of the residents in Lanao del Sur that some suspicious and armed men were spotted in the area.

The exchange of deafening gunshots between the military troops and terrorist group last for about 35 minutes, according to Philippine Army 1st Infantry Division commander Major General Roseller G. Murillo.

The soldiers were able to recover high-caliber firearms from the extremists who were able to escape the military.

The militaries have recovered M-203 grenade launcher, two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), three anti-personnel 60 mm RPG ammunition, anti-tank RPG ammunition, three 40mm ammunition, hand grenade, two RPG fuse, binocular, ISI flag, and drug paraphernalia from the terrorist group.
