President Duterte To Axe At Least 3 Generals and Over 70 Police Officials
President Rodrigo Duterte was set to dismiss at least three generals and over 70 police officials over alleged irregularities.
Last week, Mr. Duterte announced to ax some policemen and high-ranking officials on upcoming days as a party of his purging regime.
The president wanted to clean up the government and totally eradicate corruption even if it takes firing numbers of people.
“I am in the thick of firing people. I intend to fire another maybe 70 or 49 policemen and three generals for corruption…In the next few days. I am firing another chairman of an entity in government maybe this week and another set of policemen,” said by Duterte.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said that the high-ranking officials would be relieved from their post because of alleged graft.
The expansion of cleansing of the bureaucracy to the local government officials came after the Cabinet meeting held last January 08, 2018.
President Duterte always says that he would fire any government officials involved in corruption and irregularities.
