Ex-SBMA Chairperson Martin Diño Appointed By President Duterte As New DILG Undersecretary

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has appointed Martin Diño as the new Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) undersecretary.

On Tuesday (January 09, 2017), the Malacañang Palace has released the appointment paper showing that President Duterte has placed former Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairperson Martin Diño as the new DILG Usec.

The newly appointed DILG Usec has been an instrument in the 2016 presidential election, wherein Mr. Duterte won the highest position in the country.

In September 2017, Diño stepped down on his position as SBMA chairperson after SBMA administrator Wilma Eisma has been appointed by the Chief Executive as the new chairperson of the agency.

Diño who departed from SBMA immediately received an offer for a position at the DILG.

The new DILG undersecretary was also a party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (Duterte’s Party) as presidential candidate.

Duterte replaced Diño in the slot during the last-minute of the May 2016 elections.

Liza Diño-Seguerra, the daughter of Martin Diño is also a part of the Duterte administration as she was appointed as the Chairperson of Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
