Another Tropical Cyclone To Enter PAR Over New Year’s Eve Weekend, PAGASA Says

The state weather bureau PAGASA is now closely monitoring a tropical cyclone, which was expected to enter PAR over the New Year’s Eve weekend.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that a low-pressure area (LPA) was expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by December 30 (Saturday) or December 31 (Sunday).

The weather disturbance is also expected to turn into a tropical depression by January 01, 2018, according to state forecasters.

Tropical Cyclone

The tropical cyclone will be named Wilma if it intensifies into a tropical depression on December 31.

Heavy rainfall due to the weather disturbance might be experienced by the resident residing in the affected areas during the dates mentioned above.

The weather agency also projected that the low-pressure area was expected to make a landfall in the country either afternoon of January 1 or early morning of January 2, 2018.

On Thursday (December 28, 2017), The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Emergency Response Preparedness (ERP) Core Group have met in preparation for the upcoming tropical cyclone.

NDRRMC also advised the public to carefully listen to weather advisories and warnings for evacuation due to the weather disturbance.
