PAGASA Announces Tropical Storm Urduja Slightly Intensifies
The state weather bureau PAGASA said that tropical storm Urduja has slightly intensified and now heading towards Samar Island.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on their 5 am weather bulletin that Bagyong Urduja has intensified with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and could gust of up to 90 kph.
The tropical storm was last spotted about 205 km east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar moving at 5 kph west-northwest.
The weather disturbance is expected to make a landfall over Northern Samar-Eastern Samar area on Saturday (December 16, 2017) either morning or afternoon.
PAGASA that Urduja would bring moderate to heavy rains within its 500 km diameter. Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Bicol Region, and the rest of Visayas would also experience scattered to widespread rains within 24 hours.
The weather agency also raised the storm warning signals in the following provinces:

- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
Signal No. 2
- Catanduanes
- Camarines Sur
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Romblon
- Masbate
- Burias Island
- Ticao Island
The public was also advised to be prepared for possible flash floods and landslides due to the tropical storm. Venturing over the eastern seaboards of Bicol region and the Visayas were still risky.
