Lawmakers Who Voted Against Martial Law Extension in Mindanao

The Congress has extended the martial ruling in Mindanao until the end of 2018. Here are some of the lawmakers who voted against the martial law extension.

The entire Mindanao region is currently under Martial Law declared by President Rodrigo Duterte last May 23, 2017, after the ISIS-inspired Maute Terror Group has attacked Marawi City, which took the lives of some extremists, soldiers, and civilians.

Duterte’s request for martial law extension in Mindanao was supposed to end on December 31, 2017, in addressing the crisis in the besieged city of Marawi, which was already ended.

On Wednesday (December 13, 2017), the 17th Congress has approved the extension of martial law until the end of the year 2018 upon the request of the president with a voting 240-27.

The martial law extension in Mindanao earned 226 votes for extension and 23 voted against it in the House of Representatives.
