December 2017 Is Hotter Than Usual, Expect Hotter Days, PAGASA Says

The state weather bureau PAGASA said that December 2017 is hotter than previous years, so Filipinos could expect hotter days ahead.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) confirmed that December 2017 is hotter than usual as the temperatures over the past few days hovered to almost 40 degrees Celsius.

Pagasa Cebu chief Engr. Al Quiblat explained that hot weather is unusual December as the temperature on Monday (December 04, 2017) hovered to 38 degrees Celsius, while the temperature yesterday (December 05, 2017) reached 39.6 degree Celsius.

Tuesday’s temperature was the hottest recorded this month indicating a hot weather.

The Christmas season last year has an actual average temperature of 27.5 degrees Celsius only, while the temperatures for the last 30 years are ranging from 24.4 up to 30.0 degrees Celsius only.

Quiblat said that the northeast winds from China and Siberia or called “amihan” could be one of the factors for high temperatures.

The hot weather has yet to reach the Visayas due to the looming high-pressure area, according to Quiblat.
