Saudi Arabia: Lebanon Allegedly Declares War, Rising Crisis

Saudi Arabia accused Lebanon of declaring war because of its aggression, which causes the escalation of crisis threatening to destabilize the Arab country.

On Monday (November 06, 2017), Saudi Arabia said that Lebanon allegedly declared war due to the aggression by the Iran-backed Lebanese Shi’ite group Hezbollah threatening to destabilize the tiny Arab country.

Lebanon has been placed to the center between Saudi Arabia and Iran’s regional rivalry. It happened when Saudi-allied Lebanese politician Saad al-Hariri stepped down as prime minister.

Hariri’s resignation speech revolved around on blaming Hezbollah and Iran.

Thamer al-Sabhan, the Saudi Gulf affairs minister said that the Lebanese government would deal to declare war against Saudi Arabia due to what he described aggression by Hezbollah.

“Lebanese must all know these risks and work to fix matters before they reach the point of no return,” Sabhan told Al-Arabiya TV quoted by GMA.

However, the Lebanese government did not give any comment regarding Sabhan’s statement.

Hezbollah, which was formed last year is both a political and military organization represented in the Lebanese parliament and Hariri-led coalition government.

On Monday (November 06, 2017), the Lebanese authorities said that the stability of Lebanese pound was not at risk and the country’s financial institution could cope with the resignation of Hariri.
