ANDRES BAUTISTA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Andres Bautista announced on Wednesday of resigning from his post.

According to a report from the GMA News, a letter from Bautistahassurfaced on social media to which parts from the letter indicated, “It is with deep sadness that I am informing you about my decision to resign as the Chair of the Commission on Elections by the end of the year.”

On the letter, Bautista said that “by the end of the year” is the “right time to step down given the postponement of the Barangay and SK elections.”

This may “not be an easy decision” but his family and children accordingly “need him now more than ever.”

He was appointed to the chair of Comelec in 2015 after being a chair as well of the Presidential Commission on Good Government.

For the previous months, he had been involved in an issue to where his wife revealed his alleged “ill-gotten wealth.”

Based on the source, the impeachment complaint against Bautista has junked on September 20.

And on August, six commissioners of Comelec — Christian Robert Lim, Luie Tito Guia, Ma. Rowena Amelia Guanzon, Al Parreno, Arthur Lim and Sheriff Abas — persuaded him to have a leave of absence or resign from post amide issue of his “ill-gotten wealth.”
