President Duterte Urged By #TindigPilipinas To Sign Bank Waivers Or Else Resign
President Rodrigo Duterte was urged by a multi-sectoral coalition #TindigPilipinas to sign bank waivers or else resign if he refused to do so.
On Wednesday (September 27, 2017), #TindigPilipinas spokesperson Shamah Bulangis said that the multi-sectoral coalition group wanted the president to sign the secrecy waivers after the disclosure of the Office of the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman possess the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) records of Duterte’s flagged bank accounts and those of his family.
“The group wants him to sign the waiver because aside from the (Ombudsman’s disclosure) being alarming, it is also a way to exact accountability on him,” said by Bulangis quoted by Inquirer.
The anti-graft body was now looking at the bank accounts as a subject for investigation, Malacañang presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said that Mr. Duterte hides nothing.
Bulangis said that the Filipino people deserve to know the truth regarding the wealth of President Duterte and his family. The spokesperson also said that the matter should be investigated and they wanted to shut down the issue of corruption.
The multi-sectoral coalition group’s “Sign or Resign” call stem came from the own statement of Duterte that he will resign if his bank accounts will be proven containing billions of pesos.
