Over P1-B On President Duterte’s Bank Transactions Found By Ombudsman

The Office of the Ombudsman allegedly found over P1 billion on President Duterte’s bank transactions, which coincides with the accusations of Senator Trillanes.

Previously, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV was accusing President Rodrigo Duterte of having billions of pesos on his bank accounts but failed to prove his allegations against the president.

Recently, the social media site “RMN” reported that the Office of the Ombudsman has found more than P1 billion on the bank transactions of Mr. Duterte and his family.

Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang confirmed the reports after requesting for assistance from the Deputy Ombudsman of Mindanao to ask the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to validate the list of Duterte’s bank transactions, since his term as Davao City Mayor.

On August, the Ombudsman was reportedly requested AMLC to conduct a bank inquiry and submit the final reports linked to the alleged billions of pesos on Duterte’s bank account.

The Ombudsman has now the copy of bank records from AMLC, which was similar to the documents submitted by Senator Trillanes, according to Carandang.

The AMLC will conduct a further investigation to find out if there are irregularities and anomalous transactions on the bank records of Duterte.

On Tuesday (September 26, 2017), Mr. Duterte said in a statement during the 120th anniversary of Department of Justice (DOJ) that he will resign if the accusations of Trillanes against will be proven true.

“Kung may makaturo lang na totoo, na meron akong deposit na kahit $1 diyan sa Hong Kong, I will step down as President of the Republic. I live by the values na nakuha ko sa tatay ko pati sa nanay ko,” said by Duterte quoted by RMN.
