Commission on Appointment Rejects The Appointment Of Judy Taguiwalo As Social Welfare Secretary

The appointment of Judy Taguiwalo to be the new secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was rejected.

On Wednesday (August 16, 2017), Davao Oriental Representative Joel Almario said that majority the members of the Commission on Appointments (CA) has rejected the appointment Taguiwalo as Social Welfare secretary.

Taguiwalo has been bypassed for already twice; first in March 2017 and has bypassed again in June together with 3 other secretaries. She has been nominated as the DSWD chief by the National Democratic Front of the Philippines.

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said that Malacañang Palace was also expressing their sadness and sympathy over the Commission’s rejection of Taguiwalo’s appointment as Social Welfare chief.

Abella also praised Taguiwalo for her determination, perseverance, and dedication in serving the Filipino people with passion and integrity.

“Secretary Taguiwalo had served the Duterte administration with passion, professionalism, and integrity. She made an impact in the lives of many Filipinos in her tenure as DSWD Secretary,” said by Abella quoted by GMA.

The rejection of Taguiwalo left the Cabinet appointment of Mariano, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial, and Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu pending before the Commission on Appointments.
