A Special Committee Aiming To Provide Assistance In Marawi City Created By Senate

The Senate has created a special committee to review, study, investigate, examine, and (–foul word(s) removed–)s the rehabilitation of Marawi City.

On Wednesday (August 09, 2017), the Senate Resolution 457, which aims to help the rehabilitation of the beleaguered city of Marawi has been adopted by the Philippine Senate. The resolution will be the contribution of the Senate for the Task Force Bangon Marawi.

Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said that the special committee formed by the Senate will be tasked to inquire, evaluate, study, review, and (–foul word(s) removed–)s all the necessary matters for the restoration of the besieged city.

“This is the Senate’s contribution to President Duterte’s call for full support, assistance, and cooperation for Task Force Bangon Marawi. The Senate will respond to the plea for help of our brothers and sisters from Marawi City,” said by Pimentel quoted by Manila Bulletin.

The Senate’s special committee will be chaired by Senator Honasan together with Senators Panfilo Lacson, Grace Poe, JV Ejercito, and Bam Aquino as members.

Pimentel also explained that the committee will study the extent of the damage in Marawi City due to the extended gun battle between the Maute Terror Group and government forces, which is nearly three months now.

After finalizing the plan for the rehabilitation of the besieged city, the committee will focus on the cost and how can they finance the expenses for the restoration of the area.

The Senate chief also said that both government and private sectors should give all the help that they could for the Marawi crisis victims by rebuilding their homes so they can start their lives again.
