Senator Gringo Honasan Voluntarily Surrendered To Authorities But Bailed Out Of Graft Case
Senator Gringo Honasan has voluntarily surrendered at Biñan City police in Laguna but immediately bailed out of the graft case.
On Thursday (August 10, 2017), Sandiganbayan has ordered the arrest of Senator Gregorio Honasan II for his alleged involvement in Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam last 2012.
The lawmaker was charged with two graft charges for the disbursement of an amount of P30 million from his pork barrel prompting the second division of Sandiganbayan to order his arrest.
On Friday (August 11, 2017), the 69-year-old senator went to Biñan City police in Laguna to surrender after Sandiganbayan has issued an arrest warrant over the graft charges filed against him.
The authorities have taken the fingerprints, blood pressure, and mugshots of Honasan, before he went Biñan Regional Trial Court Branch 25 Executive Judge Teodoro Solis together with his lawyer Dennis Manalo to pay his P60, 000 bail for two counts of graft cases.
The judge has immediately signed and approved the release order of the senator after paying his bails, then immediately go back to Manila.
Atty. Manalo said that they choose to surrender and bail out in Biñan RTC for fast processing. He also said that if Honasan will surrender to Sandiganbayan that process might take so long and if he bailed out on other courts in Manila it might not be recognized by Sandiganbayan.
The senator has denied all the accusations on his alleged involvement in the PDAF scam and insisted his innocence.
“I am completely innocent of the charges against me. All my life I have fought everything I am accused of, and I will continue to do so,” said by Honasan.
