Palace responded on former President Benigno Aquino III’s remark on Duterte’s war on drugs effectiveness.
BENIGNO AQUINO III – The palace responded on former President Aquino’s “parang wala yatang nangyari“ remark about the effectiveness of Duterte’s war on drugs.
According to the news report released by the ABS-CBN, the Malacañang responded on the remark of the president of the previous administration.
The former president stated that the war on drugs of the current president seemed not effective for based on him, it seems like nothing had happened.
And so the presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella responded, “Much ground has been gained in the campaign against hard drug traffickers and violators, but the mission is to end the demand, production, distribution and sale of illegal drugs. “Comments like the above from past leaders imply a jaded cynicism borne of a history of political opportunism.”
Abella also presented data which show the result of the war against the said illegality.
Based on Abella, the campaign resulted in revolutionary voluntary surrenders from more than 1.3 million personalities of the illegal substance.
The first year accordingly had 96,703 personalities who got arrested compared to 77,810 arrested personalities within the six years of the past administration.
About 2,445.80 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride has been grabbed on the first year under the presidency of Duterte while 3,219.07 kilos was confiscated during the whole six years of Aquino’s administration.
In an ambush interview at Manila Memorial Park, where a mass for Cory Aquino has been held, the former president stated, “Ang sasabihin ko lang, nung kami 1.8 million; tapos sa isang taon nito na may all-out na kampanya laban sa drugs, 1.8 million pa rin ang sinasabi ng survey at survey na nila yan. So para makita natin kung may success or failures, kailangan mai-compare natin, sa English, apples to apples: Ano ba yung status, ano ba yung statistika?Parang wala yatang nangyari.”
