Philippine Militaries Received New Weapons Donated By US To Support Soldiers In Marawi City

The United States has donated new weapons for the brave soldiers who were fighting the Maute Terror Group in Marawi City.

On Saturday (July 29, 2017), the US Embassy said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has already received the munitions and weapons they have delivered to support the Filipino soldiers who were fighting the ISIS inspired group.

250 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and 1, 000 grenade launchers were about to be delivered in the Philippines. While, 1, 040 rocket motors and 992 rockets were already received by the Philippine Army.

New Weapons

“The munitions and weapons deliveries will enhance the AFP’s counterterrorism capabilities, and directly support AFP members actively engaged in counterterrorism operations in the southern Philippines, including Marawi,”  said by the US Embassy.

Recently, the US military has also donated two patrol aircraft to the AFP aside from the technical assistance given by the United States to support the local government forces on the ongoing battle in Marawi City.

The US also send combat boats, pistols, and rifles for the Philippine Marines to strengthen its counter-terror efforts.

New Weapons

The economic and military ties between the Philippines and America seems to be restored after President Duterte has launched series of tirades against former US President Obama who criticized his war on drugs amid Extrajudicial Killing (EJK).

However, President Duterte has also declined the invitation of the United States.
