PLDT Appeals On The Order Of DOLE To Regularize It’s Nearly 9, 000 Employees

The Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) company has filed an appeal against DOLE’s order to regularize it’s nearly 9, 000 employees.

On Monday (July 24, 2017), PLDT Inc. said that opposes the order of the labor department to grant the regularization of almost 9, 000 employees. It also means that the company is required to pay an amount of P78.6 million for the benefits of those employees.

On July 17, 2017, the telecommunication company filed an appeal against the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regarding the alleged unpaid benefits of their workers. PLDT also said that the department has no legal basis and erroneous computation with their accusations.

“In accordance with the rules of procedure for these types of cases, the filing of the appeal stays the execution of any aspect of the order, for the duration of the appeal,” said by the telecommunication giant quoted by ABS-CBN.

Also on Monday, PLDT company’s shares drop from 0.59 percent to 1, 690 following telecommunication giant’s decline on its net income for the last 3 years. The reduction in the company’s income was due to their costly shift from traditional telephone business into digital services.
